The Baybayabas Elementary School (BES) in Talugtug, Nueva Ecija, through the initiative and guidance of its Head Teacher, Mrs. Myrna A. Bautista, have launched its remedial teaching program. The purpose of the program is to help especially the slow learner pupils develop their own initiative in reading. To ensure the success of the program, the teachers have converted a space in their class rooms into a reading corner that is attractive, well furnished with reading materials that are conducive for learning. The idea is to encourage more pupils to spend their leasure time more on reading instead of always playing.
Last September 13, 2016, Dr. Ronaldo A. Pozon made a short visit at BES. He commented the teachers for their extra effort and dedication to develop a wonderful and attractive reading corner conducive for reading and learning.
To date, the reading corners are of great help. They are now serving their purpose because more pupils are increasingly interested to stay, read and learn more. Slowly maybe, but surely their attention and interest to read more is catching up.
